Odisha Police (Cuttack) emerged champions in the R N Singhdeo Memorial All-Odisha Football Tournament, edging out Kishore Club (Bhubaneswar) 6-4 in the final via penalty shoot out here todat. After play in the regulation time ended in 1-1 draw, Odisha Police converted all five spot kicks against four by Kishore Club.
Altogether 10 teams participated in the tournament, which was inaugurated by Balangir MP Kalikesh Singhdeo. Panchyatiraj Minister Kalpataru Das handed over the trophy and cash prizes at the closing function. The champion team received Rs 31,000 and the runner-up outfit Rs 21,000. Balangir MLA A U Singhdeo, Collector Deboraj Mishra and organising committee president Radha Keshab Mishra were present on the occasion.
Woman cricket internationals Madhuri Meheta and Rasanara Parbin of Balangir and five veteran football players of the district who played football with Late RN Singhdeo were felicitated on the occasion.
